Safety Instructions

In case of accidental breakage of LED bulbs

If a LED bulb breaks, it will be good practice to follow these simple instructions that will allow you to effectively and safely clean the environment in which you live or work.

In all cases:

  • if the bulb broke while it was connected to the lamp holder, before touching it to remove it, disconnect the main power switch to avoid the risk of electric shock.

For bulbs with plastic bulbs – 80% recyclable:

  • no particular precautions are required in handling the fragments, as they do not present immediate and direct risks of injury;
  • if children or animals enter the environment, make sure you have carefully collected all the fragments, even the smallest ones, correctly disposing them for plastic waste, to prevent children or animals from becoming curious and even ingesting them.

For glass bulbs – 100% recyclable, proceed as follows:

  • make sure that other people or animals do not remain in the room where the light bulb is broken;
  • be careful not to hurt yourself with the glass splinters;
  • do not use your bare hands to avoid injuring yourself;
  • wear latex or rubber gloves (those normally used for washing dishes are fine);
  • collect the glass fragments of the lamp using brushes or shovels. In the absence of these, use a piece of cardboard or rigid paper that you will then have to throw away together with the residues you have collected;
  • if you will use a vacuum cleaner, take particular care in emptying it to avoid injuring yourself with the sucked up fragments;
  • if clothing or other linen (tablecloths, rugs, towels, etc.) came into direct contact with the residues of the bulb, we recommend careful cleaning and subsequent washing so that any very small fragments, escaped from a first check, are eliminated during the washing phases. However, take care to check for any presence in the drain water filter of your washing machine, proceeding to clean it if necessary;
  • to clean the shoes with which you have possibly stepped on the residues, use a damp disposable cloth. Dispose of it in the garbage in the same way as the residues of the lamp.

Disposal of residues:

  • the glass fragments or the plastic bulb can be disposed of in the respective domestic separate collection;
  • the other residues of the lamp (plastic or metal body, attack, electronic parts) must be sent to the ecological platforms that are equipped for the recycling of electrical and electronic materials.
    Do not throw them in the normal containers (bins) of separate waste collection.

Further information for the disposal of electrical and electronic materials can be found in this page of our website.
